The 30 Best Gift Ideas for Sourdough Bakers
The 30 Best Gift Ideas for Sourdough Bakers

As a sourdough baker, my wish list for Christmas (and birthdays, Mother’s Day, Easter, and any other holiday I can think of!) is packed with sourdough goodies I haven’t quite justified splurging on for myself.
But boy… have I longed for them.
Making sourdough doesn’t have to be expensive (check out this list of 20+ tools on a budget!), but there are so many tools and supplies that can make the process easier and more enjoyable.
So, here is a list of the best gifts for sourdough bakers. A ton of small businesses are on this list, many of which were started by sourdough bakers and creators. I’m stoked about it!
And yes, I will be sending this to my husband.
What This Isn’t: This is not a list of items a brand new sourdough baker needs to get started (please refer to my “tools you need” list in my artisan bread recipe if you need that instead). This is a guide of more unique sourdough gift ideas – nice-to-have tools and supplies that would make any bread baker smile. I think of this as the stuff I add to my wishlist in the hopes that I may splurge and get it someday.
Some of the products I recommend in this post are affiliate links – if you choose to purchase after clicking one of my links, I may earn a small commission, which helps fund this website, recipe development, and monthly giveaways. I sincerely appreciate your support.

Bread Dipping Seasonings: I LOVE dipping fresh sourdough bread in a nice dipping oil. My mom gifted me a bread dipping kit a few years ago, and it was one of my favorite gifts. This little container of seasonings is ideal for a stocking, and I promise you – the baker in your life will love it!
Bread-Themed Stickers: “Sorry, I can’t – I have to feed my starter” and “Sourdough, because murder is wrong” are the types of cute sayings you’ll find on these bread-themed stickers. This pack is less than $10 and is the perfect stocking stuffer or filler for a sourdough-themed gift basket.

The Bread Journal: If the sourdough baker you’re shopping for has a Type A personality, this is a great stocking stuffer. They can notate all the details about each bake to better understand how little tweaks impact the final result.

Nordic Ware Microwave Tortilla and Pancake Warmer: If your sourdough baker makes tortillas, pancakes, or waffles on the regular, this warmer is amazing! While not essential, it’s firmly in the “nice-to-have” category.
The Best Bread Knife Ever: This little Mercer bread knife is about $15 and it’s seriously the best one I’ve ever used. It beats my CutCo knives any day, and those cost a fortune! If you want an inexpensive gift that packs a big punch, this is definitely a top contender.
Redmond’s Sea Salt: Get 15% off with code TSG15. A super high-quality sea salt, perfect for use in sourdough baked goods or – my favorite – to top off a chocolate chip cookie. Plus, it’s the perfect size for stockings.
Doe a Deer or Just One Designs Reusable Bowl Covers: An eco-friendly way to cover up a bowl full of sourdough dough. They are food-safe, machine washable, and even waterproof. Plus, you’re supporting a small business with each purchase. Both of these brands are small businesses that make incredible bowl covers – don’t make me choose because I can’t! Use code THATSOURDOUGHGAL for 15% off either brand!

The Perfect Loaf by Maurizio Leo: One of my favorite sourdough books – it’s a recipe book, an instructional book, and everything in between. It includes all the little details, and the recipes I’ve made from it have been some of my best. A must-have for sourdough geeks.
Liquid Sourdough Starter: Get 15% off with code THATSOURDOUGHGAL. If you’re shopping for someone who says they want to get into sourdough for their New Year’s resolution, I had to throw this one in there. This sourdough starter, named Suzette, arrives in liquid form, so you don’t have to take the time to rehydrate it. I’ve tested it and it’s fantastic!
DOAP: Get 10% off with code TSG10. Quite possibly the most adorable stocking stuffer (and the most practical). Handmade in Nashville, TN, these hand scrubbers are a sourdough baker’s dream. They make it easy to scrub off that sticky dough after a good slap and fold session.
Butter Crock: We sourdough lovers need room-temperature butter at all times – you never know when a warm slice of sourdough calls for it. These butter crocks are a great way to keep the butter fresh. Plus, they’re cute.
Sourdough Farmhouse Wood Sign: Use code SOURDOUGH15 for 15% off. My mom handmakes these wooden signs. This cute sourdough one is going on my wishlist.

The Sourdough Whisperer by Elaine Boddy: A must-have book for sourdough lovers! I love flipping through this and studying her recipes. She has a very unique style that favors overnight fermentation and colder homes (64-68°F). A fresh perspective on sourdough for sure!
USA Pans: The brand USA Pan makes this amazing nonstick bakeware, but they don’t use Teflon to do it – it’s a proprietary silicone coating. NOTHING sticks to these (as long as you don’t stick them in the dishwasher). I can’t hardly recommend just one thing from them, but a few honorable mentions include their half sheet trays, this long loaf pan, and the hot dog bun pan.

Flourside Bannetons: Get 5% off with code TSG5. My new favorite size is the Oval – Spiral (MD).
The wood pulp material absorbs excess moisture, providing a perfect surface for scoring and a nice, thin, crackly crust after baking.
Plus, I’ve met the founder, and he is the most genuine, kind guy. You can feel good about supporting this small business.

Sourdough-Themed Apparel: Use code SOURDOUGH15 for 15% off. My mom designs the best sourdough shirts and sweatshirts – there’s something for everyone! You can also customize some with the baker’s name if you want to level it up to an even more thoughtful gift.

Brod & Taylor Bench Knife & Dough Whisk Bundle: These are two of my most-used kitchen items. They’re practical, and they’re the best in their category. I’m not kidding you… I think I have over a dozen bench scrapers. But this one from B&T is the best. Same with the Danish dough whisk. Prefer to shop direct? Purchase from Brod & Taylor’s website here.
Mason Cash Mixing Bowl: Another one of those nice-to-have sourdough items that other bread bakers ooh and ahh over. This is a beautiful mixing bowl, and I’m guessing the recipient will immediately recognize and appreciate this brand.
Basil & Bloom Sourdough Courses: Use code TSG5 for $5 off. Parker from Basil & Bloom has some really incredible courses for beginners, intermediate bakers, and those wanting to start a microbakery. I’ve taken his intermediate course and learned so much – his teaching style is also very approachable. I love that I can go back and re-watch some of the more complex videos, as well. Highly recommend, and it makes a great gift! Note: select “Send as a gift” on the checkout page! Parker is looking into adding a gift card option, but for now, that is the best way to gift the courses!

Cairnspring Mills Flours: Use code TSG15 for a discount, valid through September 30, 2025. Grab a bag or two of the high-quality flours from Cairnspring Mills! I suggest the Organic Whole Grain Expresso flour as a flavorful whole wheat option. And their Trailblazer Bread Flour is a great bread flour beloved by bakeries like Tartine and Grand Central Bakery.

Ballerina Farms Bread Flour: This bread flour is just magical. It’s organic, high in protein (14%), and performs amazingly well. I suggest buying the largest, 25-pound bag. The shipping is a little expensive, so this is a splurge. But the flour… gosh. It’s so good. The baker in your life will definitely use it up!

Thermapen One: Hands-down the best, most accurate thermometer on the market. My ride-or-die. An essential tool for temping dough in the oven, checking your tangzhong, and tracking your dough during bulk fermentation.

Pinafore Apron by Hedley & Bennett: Quite possibly the most flattering apron I’ve ever seen. I usually sport splotches of flour on my clothes, but I have trouble forking over so much money for an apron. That makes this the perfect gift for serious bakers.
Cuisinart Belgian Waffle Maker: Sourdough waffles are incredible, and having one of these kicka** waffle makers would take the whole experience to the next level. Not a necessity, but a very cool item to have in the kitchen.

Krustic Bread Dome: Use code REBEKAH15 for $15 off. My long-time favorite bread baking vessel. It does a fantastic job of making delicious bread without totally breaking the bank (yes, bread domes get way pricier than this).
Read my review of the Krustic bread domes here.
Brod & Taylor Sourdough Home: This product is a game-changer. I finally had the chance to try it, and it’s perfection for weekend bakers. You can keep your starter cool during the week – but not too cold – which keeps it healthy. No need to perk up an acidic starter anymore, and no need to feed it daily if you don’t want to. Totally amazing! Prefer to shop direct? Purchase from Brod & Taylor’s website here.
Emile Henry Baguette Baker: Emile Henry is another name we all go gaga for in the sourdough space. Her baking vessels are gorgeous and high-quality. The baguette baker is one of many, but it’s certainly one I’ve had my eye on.

Brod & Taylor Folding Proofer: This contraption is fantastic for keeping dough at a steady temperature. I use it so much that I don’t even bother putting it away… it has a permanent place on our counter. If the baker in your life doesn’t have one, they will 100% be excited to receive it!
Prefer to shop direct? Purchase from Brod & Taylor’s website here.
NutriMill Harvest Electric Stone Grain Mill: Get $20 off with code TSG20. I love the idea of milling my own grain – it elevates the entire breadmaking process (not to mention all the health benefits). The price of this machine may be a hurdle, and you need the storage space for it. But if all of that aligns, this is the gift that would win Christmas.

Ooni Halo Pro Spiral Mixer: The stand mixer to beat. I have four high-end stand mixers, and this is the one in my stand mixer cabinet… I just cannot stop using it. It strengthens dough super quickly and is very user-friendly. Yes, it’s pricey, but if you’re looking for a showstopping gift and have the budget, it will not disappoint.

Conclusion
Whether you’re shopping for a Christmas gift, birthday gift, or just because, this list of sourdough tools and supplies would make any bread maker happy.

Yes, you can always get some of the more introductory items, like parchment paper, a scale, or a set of glass bowls. However, if you’re looking for more unique sourdough items, I hope you’ll find the perfect idea here.

Where can I find the flour that you use from a mill? Thank you
Sunrise Flour Mills is the one I use in my videos. You can get a discount on it here: https://thatsourdoughgal.com/sourdough-discounts/
I would love to see a bake off comparison between the Challenger Bread pan and the Le Creuset pan.
Hi Rebekah! I know you mentioned the bread slicer you have in this blog post, then got the electric one that made its way to your pantry. There was a third one I thought you tried and liked. Can you please share an update on which bread slicer you like the most and why? or have you found a fourth one to try? 😉
Thank you so much for all your amazing content!
My favorite is just the Mercer bread knife! It’s super sharp, great price, easy to clean. I haven’t fallen in love with any of the larger “contraptions” unfortunately (or fortunately!).
I love your recipes on sourdough breads and all the other things you have made. I have made quite a few of your sourdough breads and they have turned out amazing. My doctor loves the sourdough bread and I have him hooked on it.
I bring him in a loaf about once a month and he raves about it all the time. He does not share it with his office staff. He takes it home and I think he eats the majority of the loaf himself.
I do make a loaf just for the office and one for him, so the office staff do not feel left out.
Keep sending these fabulous recipes please. ❤️❤️
I’m so glad Diane!!
