Easiest Ever, 2-Minute Pizza Sauce (No Cook)

Storebought pizza sauce is simply NOT it. I find it lacks flavor and depth, and what’s with the watery texture?
I’ve tried SO many pizza sauce recipes over the years, and honestly? I wasn’t a huge fan of the ones you had to cook on the stovetop. It felt like a lot of extra work when I was already making the darn pizza from scratch!
Plus, our family likes a LOT of flavor, and some of the more minimal recipes just lacked the punch we were craving.
With the simplest of ingredients and just two minutes of your time, you can have the best pizza sauce on the planet. No cooking required!
I hate to be biased here, but this pizza sauce has been a staple recipe in our house for years. It’s THAT good, and it works on a variety of pizza styles.

Why You’ll Love This Pizza Sauce Recipe
- Full of flavor: we can’t be having dull sauce on our homemade pizza! This sauce is full of amazing flavor, including Italian seasoning, fresh garlic, and an extra bit of oregano for that classic pizza vibe.
- Perfect texture: No watery or thin consistency here. This sauce is on the thicker side, which makes it ideal for home ovens (since excess liquid doesn’t desperately need to evaporate).

- Great for dipping: we are massive sauce fans around here, so you’ll often catch us dipping our pizza in even more sauce… this recipe is perfect for that! Very dippable indeed… did someone say breadsticks?!
- Easily customizable: switch out the spices in this recipe to make it your own. Plus, if you’re not a die-hard fan of garlic like us, swap out the fresh garlic for dried and it’ll be much milder.
- No need to pre-cook: Perhaps the best part of all is that this sauce requires no cooking. Just mix the ingredients and you’re ready to go. Seriously… you’re done in 2 minutes!

Ingredients
The ingredient list is very pantry-friendly.

We stay stocked up on tomato sauce and tomato paste just for this! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Tomato sauce: the base for the pizza sauce
- Tomato paste: adds umami and gets the texture just right
- Fresh garlic: absolutely essential for us, but if you don’t LOVE garlic, it may feel too punchy for you – swap for dried garlic if you prefer
- Olive oil: because why not?!
- Dried oregano: essential for that classic pizza aroma
- Italian seasoning: adds tons of flavor in one fell swoop
- Sugar: balances out the acidity from the tomato
- Sea salt and black pepper: rounds out the sauce perfectly

Because this sauce is so simple, it’s worth splurging on higher-quality tomato sauce and paste. It’s the bulk of the sauce, and I can really taste the difference.
Don’t get me wrong: store brand is fine. But the sauce does have more depth of flavor when I buy the higher-quality option.

Muir Glen is our current favorite.
How to Make Pizza Sauce

The supplies you need to make this pizza sauce are minimal:
- Mixing bowl
- Garlic press (if using fresh garlic)
- Spatula
- Measuring spoons
- Can opener
And making it is as easy as putting all the ingredients in a bowl and mixing it up!

How to Use Pizza Sauce
Our favorite type of pizza is Detroit-style pizza, and this sauce is perfect for it. You can reference my Detroit-style sourdough pizza recipe here.
It’s as simple as spooning this sauce on the pizza dough before baking.

I don’t have a foolproof sourdough pizza dough recipe on my blog yet, but I’ve certainly made my fair share of pizzas in the past.
To use this sauce in a standard homemade pizza recipe (using a home oven), here are the basic steps:
- Preheat baking vessel (I like a cast iron skillet) at 500°F. Let it remain in the oven for about 20 minutes after it has fully preheated.
- Bring out hot skillet and coat the bottom with oil.
- Roll out pizza dough and gently place it on the hot oil.
- Spoon this pizza sauce over the dough. You can be generous with it, since it’s on the thicker side. You won’t end up with a soggy crust!
- Add your toppings and put back in the hot oven.
- Bake for about 10 minutes.

Other pantry staples:
Could you freeze it? I can’t use this much within 3 days.
Yes, you can totally freeze it!
I’ve been making an almost identical sauce for over 30 years. Oregano gives me heartburn so instead of the Italian blend and Oregano I use homegrown dried Basil. I add red pepper flakes, fennel seeds and parmesan cheese. It’s delish!
That is awesome!! Fennel sounds like an amazing addition
